I grew up learning about this film, but Blockbuster wasn't exactly bursting at the seams with rental copies. Eventually I learned more and more, and seeing James Rolfe remark on the 100th anniversary of the film's release made me finally knuckle down and get the Blu-ray. It was absolutely worth it: an eerie and almost nightmarish world that looks like a bad acid trip while looking at Dali paintings, merged with a story of a serial killer who is the mere puppet of a deranged madman with a terrifying agenda. A film doesn't need 4k holographic visuals or surround sound that would deafen an artillery crew to have a chilling story of perception and power-lust that worms its way inside your brain, and this film proves it. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy, you will thank me later.

  • Bluray is stunning and only way to view landmark film

One of the most amazing movies of all time it is truly a wonder to experience. This restored 4K Blu-ray is the only way to watch this revolutionary film. It is fascinating to see the immortal Conrad Veidt in an early performance. A bit disturbing to see the vulgar and fat Werner Krauss who played The title character. Krauss was a rabid nazi supporter who was kicked out of movies after the nazis were liquidated and died a broken and disgraced animal like he was. Ironic as brilliant Veidt had to flee Germany due to his Jewish wife.

  • It could be called Doctor Death.

I like watching the very early movies made. this movie is very picture perfect , but it's a strange one compared to other early ones I like , kind of reminds of The Murders in the Rouge Morgue, but that,s my opinion still a good one.
