This is a movie in 1956. I heard about this movie in Hong Kong but never was able to watch it in Theater by that time, because it is not a popular movie. 50 years later, I found it in Ebay. I ordered it and it looks like a new version of dvd made in 2015. Very good dvd with a small booklet in it. It is a black and white movie, Japanese audio with English subtitle. It tells the story of a Japanese soldier, After Japan surrendered in 2nd world war, he prefers to stay in Burma to find the remains of his fellow dead soldiers and try to bury them. Not everyone will like this movie, unless you are those who like classical movies. What surprises me is that the musical sound from the Burma Harp is so nice and lovely. It is a movie about human passions, and not about the war.

The movie is based on a fantasy book, so the premise of a band of singing Japanese is not inconsistent with its thematic roots. I found the film very enjoyable. Most of all I enjoyed the twist at the end. I did not see that coming.

This movie was in response to Japanese involvement in WW II. Scenes are handsomely framed and the script paced just right for an anti-war movie.
