This version of the movie included both the published ending and the directors cut and happy ending or "Love conquers all" version. The movie definitely shows elements of python-esque humor throughout and was unexpectedly engaging. it represents a world not too far removed from our own where bureaucracy out of control has changed the lives of the inhabitants - and not for the better I fear. This is a must see movie for any denizen of the 80's and early 90's, as well as all python fans in existence. I cannot be more emphatic in recommending the 3 disc set to capture the additional materials, video, commentary which greatly enhance the experience provided by the video.
I had been wanting to get the Criterion version of Brazil for quite sometime, but it was pretty pricey when it first came out. I saw it on Ebay recently for a price I couldn't pass up. I was so delighted with the picture quality and re-mastering. This film, although kind of "out there," never ceases to amaze me. It is pure genius, and never really shows it's age. If you are considering the top quality Criterion version, this is money well spent!
Brazil is a creative, magical and imaginative film that withstands the passage of time. The movie has a plethora of great actors and presents a world in the future that is at the same time strange, sophisticated and nightmarish. The Criterion Collection presents this DVD version of a wonderful film full of satire, wonder and the horrors that lie in the bottom of the human heart. I recommend this film to any serious connosieur of cinematography. Cheers.
I received much more than I expected. Great dvd set for my collection.
