When nineteenth-century Ojibwa author George Copway invoked Wordsworthian Romanticism and quoted various European Romantic poets in his autobiographical accounts of traditional Indigenous hunting practices and religious beliefs, was he embracing - or rejecting - the still-influential Romantic ideal of the "ecologically noble savage"?
