I mean, it's completely explained and in your face. It's impossible to miss. Maybe that's the problem. Or maybe it's just dated. I get that the 60s were a tumultuous time. I was there. Some of the scenes that are meant to be shocking, are not today. There are some good moments in the film. But some scenes are stretched out so ridiculously long that it's annoying. Great film. One of Godard's best. Very political, not recommended for the squeamish, but one of the gems of the French New Wave (specifically Godard's prolific '60s period). Criterion's clean-up of the film for Blu-ray looks incredible, and the special features are a must for any fan of the French New Wave.
