Filmmaker Werner Hertzog tells an incredible tale, 30,000+ years old, of the earliest known record of human artistic expression. Is this Cameron at his best? Of course not. It is a mix of synthetic 3D, non-pro 3D, and glorious HD 3D, all necessary to achieve the vision and scope of this documentary. Get this and experience the greatest example of early mankind's mind's-eye at work. Recommended!

I recently purchased a 3d format tv and have been buying up a variety of 3d format videos. This Herzog documentary is mesmerizing. It takes the viewer into pristine caves to view beautiful early paintings. the director interviews the scientists at work as they try to interpret the art and give their ideas about the artists and what we have in common with these ancestors of ours. All the while, the film crew artists must struggle to work in low light conditions. These caves are off limits to tourists in an effort to keep them from deteriorating and it is not likely that most people would ever have a chance either time or money wise to visit these sites or have a detailed explanation of current research regarding them. Thank you Mr. Herzog for this experience. I also enjoyed the special added features that came with this dvd about how the original music was created that goes with the documentary film, in watching the musical artists at work their work is in step with the ancient cave painters and the link between present and past is made real.Read full review
