This 'lost' gem is a celebration of free style film making. Hausu is more successful at sweeping the viewer into different fields than the stiff, predictable disney measurements. The soundtrack is as vivid. From slick electric jazz to bullseye transport pop, (with English vocals!), the whole experience sparkles with unforseen and profound detours. If pee wee herman did a feature at the bat cave with russ meyer directing, one would begin to taste a prediction. The truest genius is the melt-mix of fantasy and journey. the effects are both intricate and then gravity defyingly artful. magnetic and hypnotic. i have only seen a video tape of a rare cable presentation. i seek the soon due dvd release for u.s.a. compatablility. any true film fan would trade would beg to see this on the big screen, and i am jealous of the ones who did recently as the film did a small u.s. tour.Read full review
This purchase was a long time coming for me, and I was not disappointed in any way. Upon first seeing the movie a couple years ago, I was crestfallen to find that there had no been a USA DVD release. WHAT!? This is one of the moist strikingly original films I've ever seen. In most regards, it is in fact the most unique film I've ever seen. I pride myself in seeking out the strange and unusual in the movies I watch, and with HOUSE, I struck the motherload. Every review will in one way or another claim that there is nothing quite like HOUSE, and to describe it is simply impossible. This is true. Every film trick imaginable is utilized to create this collage of the bizarre, and nothing every feels quite normal. There is an ass-biting head, a suddenly skeletal man, and a house full of strangely animate furniture. The cover demands a "wtf?!" reaction and the movie plays out in kind. I cannot recommend this film highly enough. I have yet to see anything to compare this too. It's batshit zaniness from start to finish. Even if your interest is only mildly piqued, it's worth checking out for kicks, at the very least. PS. WATCH THIS!!Read full review
You’d have to be dead not to find House wonderful. It’s better then psychedelic drugs. The movie just vibrates with energy.
