Great film, great score, sourced from an excellent novel by Kobe Abe. One of my favorite quirky films. An entomologist is trapped in a sandpit with a strange woman by neighboring villagers, in order to help her keep the shifting sand from her dwelling. He leaves his straight life behind to pursue the erotic and atypical situation with this erotic and unusual female. In a sense, he's fallen into her insect like web. .
