I had the original Criterion release of this dvd, but kept hearing about how great the new transfer was on the re-release. I took the plunge and double dipped, which I hate doing, but was I ever pleased. The transfer is gorgeous, the additional features are great (the Phillip Glass opera as alternate audio track is worth the purchase price alone), and the film itself remains one of the finest fairy tales ever put on film. Cocteau's film is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, and Criterion has given it a dvd treatment worthy of that status.
