I watched this movie on Netflix a couple of times before I purchased it. It is absolutely gorgeous and terrifying. I had to own it on DVD so I could show it to people. My friend Emilio whom you could say is a "horror movie buff" really liked it a lot, so much so that now he asks me for recomendations on movies. This is not a horror movie per se, although it does share some horror movie elements. I would rather describe it as a psychological thriller with a pinch of gore. The title might discern some people who might mistake this movie as a "Damien" type of ordeal but don't be fooled. This movie is ART at its best. Watch it and see if you can figure out why it's called Antichrist. It took me three views to figure it out but that's because I couldn't get subtitles on netflix.Read full review
I am a big movie fan these past 66 years. I love to be shocked, or disturbed, or witness a director pushing the envelope in cinema. Now, we are not talking about some Midnight Creature Feature, or those laughable so-called horror films, that we indulge ourselves in. 'Antichrist' is absolutely harrowing in some of its imagery. Images that, I am quite sure, have never appeared in cinema before. This film takes itself very seriously, and the actors make the situation very believable, which in turn, draws us into their predicament. It is certainly not for the squeamish or faint of heart. It is a ferocious film to be reckoned with. It is High Art. And you will never forget what you see.
