Several years back I saw this Russian version and was amazed at the scope and character of the movie. Many people have seen the USA version with George Clooney...I have seen both and for me this Russian production is the real deal. The sets, actors and special effects are wonderful. Too bad our movie stations don't rerun this version more often. This is classic film entertainment that I plan to view over and over...
This is a very intriguing story and a very good movie, actually. An original russian sci-fi with a deep philosophical questioning on what are we truly looking for "out there". The answer: when humans go looking for aliens, they ignore anything that does not look like "human".
