The Masterpiece Collection every Hitchcock Fan Should have.
Here is an Ultimate Masterpiece Collection DVD Box set every fan should have in their collection. The same set also comes in Blu-Ray for a much higher price but from a budget point of view... this is a very nice set to start with. Every movie in this set has been re-mastered..video and audio. The vertigo movie here is finally in an anamorphic video. The already awesome transfer even gets better watching them in an upscaled view with a Blu-ray player. The container comes in a velvet material witch wasn't the same case as the blu ray box set version. I had been looking for a Hitchcock collection like this. I have most of his movies on VHS tape but my machine finally died and I was looking to have his 'best' on dvd. Very glad I found this on Ebay; to me it truly represents his best works. The bonus CD was very interesting also; interviews with Janet Leigh on her experience acting in 'Psycho' and Tippi Hedren's remarks on working with Mr. Hitchcock in 'The Birds.' Did you know Janet never took another shower after making Psycho? It's true.I had been looking for a Hitchcock collection like this. Can't really say too much about all of the Hitchcock package since I've only viewed three of the 14 movies. What I've seen has been great, and I'm sure the others are just as good since I've already seen the movies before, I just need to make sure the CD are fine.

From another source: VIDEO The transfers on these discs are identical to the restored versions contained on the individual releases for Psycho, Vertigo, Rear Window, etc., which means that by today's HD standards they're good but not necessarily great. The restorations are magical, but fail to deliver the kind of clarity offered by some of Lowry Digital's more recent work, such as with the Star Wars Trilogy or the upcoming, immaculate Wizard of Oz special edition. But overall the films look very good, and offer few if any problems substantial enough to discourage even the most dedicated fan from watching these films.Simply Awesome! masterpiece collection dvd set
